SNSI Reports a 29% Increase in Surgeries! Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana, Inc. (SNSI) excitedly reports a 29% increase in surgeries for their annual February spay-neuter campaign. Thirty-four Central Indiana veterinarians participated in the month long effort to provide affordable surgeries to pet owners. There were 1,697 surgeries performed in February of this year, which is an average of 60.6 surgeries per day. This is up from the 2002 total of 1,320 surgeries, which averaged out to 47.1 surgeries per day. "This is encouraging news for all of us in the animal community," said Verna Boggs, Treasurer. "Each animal that we sterilize potentially saves the lives of many others. It is great to see the efforts of so many animal organizations that have come together to educate the community start to pay off. We will continue our quest to help end pet overpopulation in this state and strive to reach even higher numbers next year."
